We currently use Atlas Scientific sensors for the gauge stations because they are cheap and fairly accurate compared to more expensive sensors. These sensors are designed to be embedded in a printed circuit board (PCB), so we designed one that can accomidate 3 sensors and that we can have made for approximately \$8-each.
For future applications, we plan to use a Meter HYDROS 21 CTD sensor. These sensors are often used with the Mayfly data loggers and may prove to be more stable than Atlas sensors.
